Il Frantoio

Il Frantoio offers an authentic experience of life in the heart of Salento, more precisely in the historic center of Melendugno. It is an ancient oil mill from the 1800s recently completely renovated through a long and careful intervention aimed at preserving the characteristic architectural elements of the area, enhancing and updating them with modern furnishings and finishes. This wonderful and charming home also equipped with a swimming pool, is spread over an internal surface of about 350 square meters within which there are 4 double bedrooms arranged on several levels characterized by high ceilings with star vaults. Il Frantoio is a place to relax after a long day discovering the villages of Puglia or the beaches of the coast

LAYOUT
From the entrance gate you enter the house through a small courtyard, here you will find the entrance and the main room. In the large open space there is the fully equipped kitchen, a dining table for 10/12 people and next to it the sofa area with TV. Connected to the living room you will discover another relaxation area and reading corner overlooking the garden and the outdoor pool. The living area is also equipped with a service bathroom and laundry room. The 4 bedrooms are arranged on two levels: On the ground floor there are 2 double bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms and on the upper floor another 2 double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms both overlooking the garden and the pool.

Outside you will find a garden with a 7×3 meter swimming pool (depth 1.40 cm) and a garden equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, outdoor table and gazebo

MELENDUGNO AND SURROUNDING AREA
Melendugno is a small village in the heart of Salento. The coat of arms of Melendugno depicts a beehive placed on the trunk of a pine tree. Melendugno was in fact the village of honey. Hence the name of the village ‘M(I)elendungo, the area that produced the most honey in the province of Lecce. Beekeeping died out in the 1900s, however, when bees and hives were finally destroyed during a disinfestation operation. The village has some bars, cafes, shops with local products, a very well equipped supermarket just 1 minute walk from the house and some restaurants. Just 7 minutes by car you will arrive at San Foca, the nearest marina with its crystal clear waters and beautiful sandy beaches. The oil mill is a 15 minute drive from the beautiful baroque city of Lecce and a 20 minute drive takes you to Otranto, a larger village with its port, many shops, excellent restaurants and bars. Melendugno is 40 minutes from Brindisi airport, 1:30 minutes by car from Bari airport and 7 minutes by car from the tourist port of San Foca.

Note: the rental cost includes bed linen and towels, pool towels, all utilities, internet, final cleaning and 1 midweek cleaning service. Upon request and at an extra cost, it is possible to have additional cleaning services and/or linen change, chef service, transfer services, car rental, boat rental. Security deposit €1,000. If required by local law, the tourist tax must be paid upon arrival.
